Inside Philae Temple

Philae temple is located in Upper Egypt in Aswan, Southern Egypt. The main attraction inside philae temple is 'The Temple of Isis'. This temple complex is now situated in Philae Island and regard as 'Pearl of Egypt'.

Architecture in Philae Temple:

Philae complex is regarded as one of the resting place of Egyptian God 'Osiris'.
This complex contain the following architecture:
  • Temple of Isis
  • Temple of Horus
  • Temple of Hathor
  • The Arch of Hadrian
  • Kiosk of Trajan
  • Kiosk of Nectanebo
  • Byzantine Temple
  • Temple of Imhotep

Temple of Isis:

Inside Philae Temple, Temple of Isis is the biggest and main Temple. Mainly Egyptian Goddess 'Isis' was prayed here. Besides, Osiris and Horus are also prayed in this temple.

Temple of Horus:

One of the main attraction of Philae Temple is the Temple of Horus or Harendotes. Horus was the son of Isis. This temple is situated close to the Arch of Hadrian and decorated by the Roman Emperor Claudius.

Temple of Hathor:

Temple of Hathor is located on the west of Temple of Isis. This temple was decorated, used or columned by Ptolemy VI and Ptolemy VIII under Ptolemic or Macedonian rule and by Augustus and Tiberius under Greco-roman rule. The cult of this temple is based on Egyptian Goddess 'Hathor'.

Kiosk of Trajan:

South of the Hathor Temple, there was another structure that is known as Kiosk of Trajan. As this name remembers Emperor Trajan, but this structure may be created during the reign of Emperor Augustus. Kiosk of Trajan is well known as Pharaoh's bed.

Kiosk of Nectanebo:

Kiosk of Nectanebo I was decorated in the 30th Dynasty on honour of Goddess Isis. Kiosk of Nectanebo I has 14 columns, but now only 6 of them remains. Walls of this Kiosk depicts sacrifices and offerings for gods.

Gate of Ptolemy 2:

It depicts different pictures of Pharaoh led by Goddess Isis and may be created during 30th Dynasty.

Temple of Imhotep:

This temple was created on the honour of Imhotep. Imhotep was the main sculpture and architect of Egypt first pyramid( Step Pyramid of Djoser).

In contrast, Philae Temple is an UNESCO Heritage Site and every year thousands of visitors comes inside Philae Temple to see its beauty.
